Now, development work continues on the upcoming Torchlight Frontiers, which is set to debut later this year, but the old guard won't be working on it. Torchlight 2 was released in 2012, but the developer ended up being shut down after being purchased by Perfect World Entertainment in 2017. Now it's on the Epic Games Store in a rather ironic turn of events. What's interesting about this situation is that Torchlight was originally a Steam exclusive when it first launched in 2009. The hack-and-slash RPG from 2009 is the next weekly freebie following Overcooked, and it's well worth grabbing, even if you're tuckered out from games that feel a lot like Diablo (or Diablo itself, if you've been playing on Switch.) But Torchlight features procedurally-generated dungeons that are still entertaining today, a decade later.
